IRON MAN, 2008

the initial plan was to go watch the MDG finals at 1 Utama, but i guess last night turned out to be much better than i expected as Eyeris told KY that he had some tickets for Iron Man screen. hehe.. i’m one lucky person kan? so i shall extend my utmost gratitude to them for giving me this wonderful opportunity.

The Plot

Tony Stark, son of an industrialist involved in manufacturing military weaponry, takes over Stark industries when he turns 21, and later on continues to prosper in war profiteering until one day he gets into trouble somewhere in Afghanistan (i think… i wonder why everytime there’s a movie with terrorist its always AFGHANS..bleh). During the ordeal, Stark was forced to built the terrorists some missiles and instead Iron Man was born. the plot thickens slightly, when there’s deception amongst tony starks circle….. and the rest you should watch it yourself :D

Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr).

Robert Downey Jr did a marvelous job playing Tony Stark, who was a rich, cocky, womanising and remorseless SOB prior to his ordeal in Afghanistan, where he built the mark 1 suit out of junk. Downey’s performance erased any doubts i had about him being able to play a superhero.

bombshell Gwyneth Paltrow playing Pepper Potts, Starks’ sexatary and perhaps love interest?

Tony Stark in Afghanistan. i shall not elaborate further for fear of spoiling the movie. hehe

Iron Man’s nemesis. I shalln’t name the actor in the suit except for saying that his name has got ‘jambatan’ in it.

being a person who’s really interested in 3d animation, i would say that the visual effects used in the movie was top notch. the level of detail in the renderings of the iron man suit certainly awed me, and is a must see. :D Oh, the movie also has a few comedic touches in it, as seen in the interaction between Stark and his robots. Also not to forget, I think I saw Stan Lee making a cameo appearance as Hugh Hefner in the movie.

NOW I PROMISE WHATEVER I WROTE HERE ISN’T AS BORING AS THE MOVIE.. SO GO WATCH IT

what three dudes did in utter boredom…

i’m back from the land of smiles. nope i didn’t really have the time to go through all the pictures i took as of now. but i’m going to put up a post on one of the few memorable moments we had in bangkok.

as previously said, KY , Terenceg and I went to bangkok from the 2nd of April to the 7th of April. We were huddled up in a hotel room quite some distance from town. One night, i guess terence just got bored and said..

“Hey, have you seen how Kim Jung Il’s (i think thats the name he said lahhh) wife’s headgear is made? Come i show you…”

you need a face towel

divide into three and fold to overlap

fold the ends in

repeat 2 - 3 times

repeat the same at the other end. Part the middle and wear it on your head. Its perfect for some camwhoring shots

Here’s KY in his ever fashionable headgear

Ky again

terenceg and the ky

urh… thats me.. lol

who would have thought that 3 guys could do such things.. i know i was shocked. DAMN.. now i’m embarrassed that you’ve seen these pictures.

creative juices - entry number one. the hide

i originally started this site in order to showcase my work. be it in progress (of which i have none) or my past works. and since i don’t have any idea what to write about lately (due to the fact that i’ve been confined to home and work most of the time) i guess its about time that i actually fulfill the objective of this site. so here it goes.

i’ve always liked the idea of keeping things as minimalist as possible. the simpler the better, after all, to some, less is actually more isn’t it? the whole design revolves around smaller living spaces which is becoming a trend (okay, perhaps not a trend but a reality since owning a bigger home needs such a big fat paycheck). what i actually wanted was a piece of living room furniture that wouldn’t be so dominating that it would actually be taking up majority of the floor space. imagine if you owned an apartment, and your living room only had a 10-12 foot wall. would you like to have a huge couch taking up that area? and once in place, the couch will take up probably 1/4 of the floor space (and this unusable space, i shall name it dead-space).

so what happens when you have too many guests around the house? a standard couch would only sit 3 people (imagine me, suanie and shaolintiger , and that would be like really cramped. where would all the other guests be sitting? my personal preference is that, we just get rid of the couch and all sit on floor cushions or something. and thats how i came up with this idea.

*see pictures below, yes they are 3d models. mind you there were done in 2005, and i still kinda sucked it in back then.. not that i’m any better now.

hmm okay.. maybe i got too carried away with the water-marking. haha..

*note to self don’t be over-zealous next time.

*yeap the portrait on the wall is a stylized picture of me*

the idea was to build the hide from fibreglass, which i did (but failed, as i didn’t apply enough mould release agent on my mould). WHAT?? FIBREGLASS?? THAT’S TOO WEAK!! that’s probably what is running through your mind. but of course, i’ve taken this into consideration, and in the construction, a corrugated pattern was used to add strength.

so that was my take on living in limited spaces. do drop me any comments, be it negative or not. criticism is constructive after all. looking back at this project has made me feel like i want to explore this minimalism idea further. perhaps i just might……
