colours of bangkok, at least through my viewfinder - pt 1

as the title says, this shall be the first installment of our trip to bangkok. i don’t think i took any FANTASTIC shots, frankly because half the time i didn’t know what i was shooting at nor did i know why i was taking a picture. so the bottom line is i think i have a lot of pointless photographs. I wish i had a longer reach lens, perhaps then i could take more obscure pictures without disturbing the moment. i didn’t want to take frontal pictures of people at temples as i feared that it might make them feel uncomfortable while speaking to ‘god’.

i particularly like the way the light fell on her

I don’t know what to expect whilst there, but since i’ll be traveling with ky and terenceg, i would say that i can expect some good times. hehe. anyway i still got tonnes of things to prepare. Hope my next post will bare the fruits of our adventure. till then, see you on the 9th of april!

trip to the Taman Bunga

i’ve only dabbled in photography for a short period of time. it’s sort of a hobby of which i wanted to pick up for a long time now. i’ve still got plenty to learn, techniques, creating my own flair or style and what not. anyway, here’s some shots taken and the flower park in KL over the weekend. i’m not fantastically amused by it, but hey, its my work after all. plus, i still have no idea how to fully utilize the camera to my advantage.

KL Bird Park

Sunday was going to be another boring day, just lazing around the house waiting for time to pass by. but fortunately i was proven wrong. ky called me up at around 1300hrs to go visit the KL Bird Park ! I think i’ve never been there before, or perhaps i did, probably when Carls Junior was still there, which is like what 12-15 years ago? Anyway, i didn’t expect much, after all its just another one of Malaysia’s tourist attraction, how great could it be?

but delightfully i was proven wrong, seems i’m just wrong about everything this sunday, and frankly speaking, i’d gladly accept that. the entree fee of RM15 was worth every cent, even thought i was attacked by a bird that started pecking away at my neck (AND YES, I DID SHOWER OK!)

the bird proudly perched on me.

eh pain leh..

Anyway there i was with my nikon d40x with its kit lens. i was wondering what i could shoot. since i had such limited focal lengths, but i tried the best i could. there were subject that i could not get pictures of, the closer i sneaked up the further the stepped backwards. BAH!!! Anyway here’s my shots, I must remind you, that this is probably the FOURTH time i actually used the camera.

kelvin warned me to NOT turn the pictures to B&W. And i said i wouldn’t. WHY WOULD I, the birds look so nice in colour!!! but heck, just to piss him off, here’s one.

hehe…

Nearing the end, i found some birds that wouldn’t scare of no matter how close i got. I must say that they were wonderful subjects, hell, you can even reach out and pat their heads and they wouldn’t even flinch. I’ve definately found the perfect subject to shoot with my limited 18-55mm nikon kit lens.

LOL. :p

anyway, i believe they did a wonderful job at the KL Bird Park, definately worth wasting a sunday there. At least it beats staying at home.
